Management Team
The Zounds management team is comprised of individuals who are experts in a variety of fields to make the new paradigm in hearing aids a reality.
Samuel Thomasson is the founder, CEO and a Director of Zounds Hearing as well as leading the Engineering and Manufacturing activities. Mr. Thomasson has twenty-two years of experience in the analog and digital signal processing fields in general management, design, operations, quality and marketing management roles at companies including Acoustic Technologies (President and CEO), Medtronic (Quality and Reliability Manager, Manufacturing Manager), VLSI Technology (Design Manager, Marketing Manager, Quality Manager) and Motorola (Government Liaison, Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer). Mr. Thomasson’s experience includes extensive work with several major customers including AT&T, IBM, Intel and Hewlett Packard. Mr. Thomasson earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He has been granted twenty patents (several more pending) in the areas of audio and telecommunications technology.
Raj Kapur, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Kapur has over twenty-five years of accounting and finance experience in high technology manufacturing organizations such as Honeywell, Dynaco and Gould Electronics. He acquired his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arizona State University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Arizona.
Troy Giles, Vice President Engineering
Troy has over fifteen years of systems design experience and a proven track record of leading successful development teams and projects. Troy joined Zounds in October 2005 as the Software Director and promptly assembled a skilled software development team. Under his leadership the hearing aid firmware solution was directed from inception to production in 15 months. Prior to Zounds, Troy held sales and development positions at Anadigm, where he was instrumental in developing a technical solutions sales approach and a true drag-and-drop analog design entry software tool. Troy began is career at Motorola where he held key development roles on projects ranging from embedded ATSC MPEG2 transport stream device driver development to neural network based missile fusing algorithms. Troy holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University.
Fan Wu, Vice President of Manufacturing
Dr. Wu has twenty years of experience in the semiconductor device and process engineering, medical device technology development and manufacturing. He worked previously at Emerson Electric (Design Engineer), Medtronic (Process Development Engineer and Engineering Manager), and Intel (Technology Development). Dr. Wu earned his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York. He has three US patents (more pending). He published more than dozen of technical papers and a book chapter in the areas of nano thin film technology, semiconductor processing and packaging, medical device design and technology. Dr. Wu is a senior member of IEEE.
