Acoustic Transducer R&D Engineer

Position Summary:

Responsible for the research, development, identifying, recommending, and qualifying aspects of the new acoustic transducer (microphones and receivers) for hearing aid applications, in accordance with the technical specifications provided by the Zounds design team.

Primary Responsibility:

Conducts applied research for new acoustic transducers in hearing aid applications.

Coordinates the internal and external resources required for a successful implementation and qualification of new transducers in Zounds’ new products.

Performs highly complicated and diversified engineering, research, and development and applies appropriate new product development tools such as advanced acoustic modeling, FEA, FMEA, DOE and statistical evaluation methods.

Interface with vendors, product design, oversee manufacturing facilities to provide customer samples.

Act as primary liaison with vendors for product technical issues.

Test and evaluate new products as well as competitive products.

Propose recommendations to increase product performance and reliability.

Work with internal and external reliability personnel to define reliability test on new products.

Propose recommendations to improve product design.

Education, Training and Experience:

BS Degree in Engineering or Physics.

5+ years experience in designing subminiature acoustic transducers, preferably microphones and receivers.

Advanced degree preferred.

Computer aided engineering skills including simulation programs & advanced mathematical modeling and analysis programs as required (Mat Lab, Ansys, ProE, SV, P Spice).

Strong project management and communication skills essential.

Strong business acumen required.
