Hearing Aid Software Architect

Position Summary:
Member of the Zounds software development team responsible for DSP software for Zounds high performance hearing aids. Primary technical leader guiding the Zounds software team in the areas of research into new software algorithms, architectural definition as well as the technical lead for implementation of noise cancellation, feedback cancellation, directional microphone management, transient noise suppression, speech detection and automatic environment adaptation. Lead/participate in the collaborative technical effort with the hardware and mechanical engineers to develop Zounds next generation ITC and BTE hearing aid systems.
Primary Responsibility:
Orchestrate the overall Zounds hearing aid architecture.
Create overall SW specification.
Perform analyses to develop design options, establish engineering evaluation criteria and recommendations for module and system level designs.
Guide the technical team in the implementation.
Work with hardware team to assess and make implementation hardware-software trade-offs.
Competitive analysis.
Work with management of product roadmaps and strategy by providing technical input.
Education, Training and Experience:
Computer Science or Computer Engineering BS degree.
6 years software development experience ins DSP based audio projects from concept through high-volume production.
Previous experience as technical lead.
Software architectural position with major player in the hearing aid market bringing digital product through production.
Communication Skills: Ability to clearly and concisely present technical concepts to management.
MatLab, C, C++, DSP Assembly Language programming experience.
Development within a structured software development environment using industry configuration management tools.
Intimate knowledge with current digital techniques employed in DSP based hearing aids.
Working knowledge of acoutic properties of hearing aids.
10 years experience in related field.
MS/PhD Degrees
High volume hearing aid experience.
Physical Job Requirements:
Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
In a typical 8 hour day, employee will:
--Stand/walk for 8 hours
--Sit for up to 2 hours
