Deion Branch Drives Seattle Area to Hear Better
Seahawk Helps Zounds Hearing Centers Address Local Hearing LossSeattle – August 25, 2008 – Zounds Hearing, a unique manufacturing and retail company focused on providing hearing aids with state-of-the-art fidelity, price point and professional service, is celebrating the grand opening of two locations that increase accessibility of treatment for local hearing loss sufferers. The grand opening of the hearing centers, featuring Seahawk fan-favorite Deion Branch, will take place over two days:
• Monday, August 25, at the Avalon Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, August 26, at the Westfield Southcenter Mall in Seattle from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
“Deion Branch knows a thing or two about great reception, and we’re happy he’ll be there to help bring attention to hearing loss,” said Sam Thomasson, founder and inventor of Zounds. “It continues to be a remarkable journey as Zounds grows, and we will continue to develop and provide hearing aids with the best sound quality and at a reasonable price as we expand throughout the country.”
Similar to Zounds’ founder, Deion Branch is no stranger to triumph over adversity: at 5’9” most coaches did not think he had a future in the NFL. But after the first four years of his professional career he was wearing two Super Bowl rings and had been named the Super Bowl MVP.
Local Hearing Loss
In King County, hearing loss figures conservatively estimate more than 210,000 residents are likely affected with hearing loss. Hearing loss is something most people take for granted, but thousands of Seattleites struggle every day with hearing impairment.
Zounds Hearing Growth
The Seattle and Bellevue hearing centers mark the 21st and 22nd Zounds locations across the country. Thirty locations are planned by the end of 2008.
Thomasson started the company as a promise to his hearing-impaired daughter. He vowed to create a new hearing aid to overcome her annoyance with her own aids due to excessive feedback, poor sound quality and an uncomfortable fit. He knew a comfortable fit, advanced noise cancellation and feedback cancellation was the answer to hearing better with hearing aids.
More than ten years and over 100 prototypes of hearing aids later, Thomasson had spent much of his savings creating a better hearing aid. His dedication and perseverance paid off, and he developed the innovative technology that helps his daughter hear today. Thomasson saw a chance to make that same, affordable technology available to the millions of hearing loss sufferers, and founded Zounds just two years ago.
