Zounds was founded by Sam Thomasson, an Engineer and entrepreneur who has spent his career developing new technologies in the medical device and consumer electronics industries. Sam is also the father of a hearing-impaired daughter and has witnessed the problems associated with today’s hearing aids. Sam promised his daughter that he would develop a hearing aid to address the key problems common with other high-end hearing aids. Zounds’ breakthrough technology is the fulfillment of a father’s promise to his daughter and the solution for dissatisfied hearing aid users around the world.Zounds utilizes a combination of internally developed and exclusively licensed technology from Acoustic Technologies, Inc., where Sam Thomasson is the founder and former CEO. At Acoustic Technologies, Sam created high-performance semiconductor chips and related software with low power usage algorithms that dramatically improved voice and sound quality in cell phones, video phones, desktop phones, conference call phones and automotive communication systems. For Sam, it was a logical extension to leverage this superior technology at Zounds. Zounds’ goal is to offer a portfolio of hearing aids and wireless devices that provide the world’s best performing technology at an affordable price to anyone with a mild, moderate, or moderate/severe hearing loss.
Our long term customers often ask about Kate, and want to know how she is doing. The little girl who inspired the Zounds revolution is now a senior in college, studying electrical engineering. Inspired by her father, she wants to follow in his footsteps by helping others through technology. During school breaks, Kate works with the Zounds team on new technologies that she will someday benefit from herself.
Our Zounds Staff:
Dr. Christopher Poletto:
With over twenty-five years of experience in medical devices and degrees in electrical (BS) and biomedical (MS, PhD) engineering, Dr. Christopher Poletto was leading a research team at Medtronic when the time came for him to make a career change. As his career had progressed, he had moved further from contact with individual patients and he missed seeing first hand the differences restorative technologies made in peoples’ lives. He decided to open a hearing clinic and evaluated all hearing aid manufacturers. One manufacturer stood out for its innovative engineering and patient-focused practices, Zounds. Dr. Poletto decided to bring the best hearing aid technology in the world to the midwest, became a Minnesota licensed hearing specialist, and Zounds Hearing of Roseville was born.
Kevin Dee ADBT:
Kevin received his degree in Bio-Medical Equipment Technology in 1975 and started with Computer Hearing Company the same year. Kevin is a Minnesota licensed hearing specialist. Kevin recently chose to join the Zounds Hearing team due to their emphasis on patient care and the high quality of their innovative products. Kevin specializes in hearing rehabilitation and expert fitting of all hearing instruments.
Megan Saiko: (working towards a degree in Health Science)
Megan grew up in the St. Paul area. After graduating from High School, Megan attended The University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire where she studied Communication Science, and Disorders. Currently she is studying at Saint Paul college, working towards a degree in American Sign Language & Interpreting. Megan pursued working at Zounds to broaden her background in the hearing sciences.

We’ve eliminated up to 90% of unwanted noise!
“These hearing aids whistle and squeal constantly”
Our dynamic feedback cancellation ends the squealing
“I have to remove the batteries and replace them all the time!”
We’ve developed a fully rechargeable hearing aid that lasts 16+ hours with a lifetime guarantee.
“My hearing aids make sudden, loud noises even louder!”
Shock sound suppressionᵀᴹ reduces sudden loud noises.
“I can’t enjoy music anymore. It just doesn’t sound good.”
High Fidelity music mode means you’ll enjoy music fully again.
“Hearing aids are so expensive- especially for a pair.”
Zounds state of the art aids are missing one thing- the middle-man markup that our competitors add on. Zounds outstanding pricing represents substantial cost saving for a product that is superior in technologies.
“I’m told I need more power and have to purchase new aids.”
The new Imprezo handles all hearing loss from mild to profound, meaning you’ll never need to upgrade because the hearing aid doesn’t have enough power.
