#8: Accurate Programming
Current Hearing Aids
Today, testing hearing loss and programming hearing aids are more art than science. First, sound proof booths may often be confining and uncomfortable. Second, the acoustical properties of a hearing test headphone may not match the acoustical properties of the particular hearing aid being programmed. Translation errors may occur. Finally, only 6 to 10 frequencies may be tested while the other important frequencies are estimated.
As a result, today’s hearing aids may not be programmed to your exact hearing loss, which means you may need to make additional visits for programming “tweaks” after you initially receive your hearing aids. It may take you 3 to 4 weeks to order and program your hearing aids and you still may not be satisfied with the result.
Zounds Difference
Zounds has revolutionized the hearing test and programming process. For starters, we have eliminated the need for a sound proof booth and headphones.* Our hearing aids act as noise reducing headphones.
Because the testing and programming are conducted with Zounds hearing aids, there is no guesswork in the process. We test and then directly program all 16 frequency bands. The result is an accurately programmed hearing aid, where no translation errors have occurred, which means you can expect fewer return visits.
*Some states may require a sound proof booth.
